Best Acoustic Guitar Under $200

What is “The Best” Acoustic Guitar for Under $200?

While it is difficult for someone like me to declare a certain guitar “the best” in a price range, here is a great acoustic guitar you can buy for under $200. It is the Yamaha FG800. At the time of writing this, you can get it for only $192 on Amazon. (That price may change). I have many guitar students who I have recommended this guitar to and they love it. The FG800 sounds great, plays well, and it is under $200. I have played it plenty myself and love its tone. It is not a high-end Martin, but it is perhaps one of the best budget acoustic guitars out there.

While you can buy the Yamaha FG800 for under $200, I would recommend spending a little extra and getting the bundle pack with the hard-shell case. Here is a link to the bundle-pack with the hard case. It is only $240 (at the time of writing this) and you get strings, picks, a strap, a book, and most importantly, a hard-shell case to protect your new Yamaha FG800. Trust me, you want a hard case.

If you are looking for a higher-end guitar that still won’t break the bank, I would recommend getting a Seagull S6. It is made in Canada so you will be supporting our Northern neighbor’s fine craftsmanship if you get an S6. However, they are $400 and you would still want to buy a case.

So if you are looking for a guitar under $200, my recommendation is the Yamaha FG800. I would pony up a few extra bucks for the bundle with the hard-shell case to protect your guitar. You also get a tuner, some picks, extra strings, a strap, and a book to boot!
